The James Webb Space Telescope (sometimes called JWST or Webb) is currently scheduled to launch on an Ariane 5 rocket from French Guiana on December 25, 2021. Visit NASA’s official mission page for more launch details.
Webb will be the premier observatory of the next decade, serving thousands of astronomers worldwide. It will study every phase in the history of our Universe, ranging from the first luminous glows after the Big Bang, to the formation of solar systems capable of supporting life on planets like Earth, to the evolution of our own Solar System.
STAR Net has partnered with ALA and NASA to create the Look Up: Explore Our Universe campaign in celebration of the James Webb Space Telescope mission. Public libraries across the U.S. and beyond are invited to participate in this year-long campaign and take advantage of the many resources that are available on our campaign website, including activities, videos, images, a media toolkit, live streaming events, and connection to subject matter experts.
